Streamlining Maritime Operations with a Comprehensive Marine Vetting Solution

Challenge 

In the maritime industry, managing vessel safety, compliance, and operational efficiency is a complex and high-stakes challenge. Australian operator Santos needed a streamlined vetting process that ensured vessels engaging with their Gladstone LNG asset, met international regulations, operated efficiently, and minimised environmental impact. 

With rising operational costs and increasing regulatory pressures, a solution that integrated safety, suitability, and compliance across all vessels was urgently needed. Added to this was the need to seamlessly integrate data from multiple sources, such as the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF). 

Solution 

Built on the EnergySys Cloud Platform, platinum partner Elite configured a comprehensive marine vetting solution. It evaluated vessels on various dimensions, including safety protocols, operational history, compliance with international and local regulations, and environmental impact. Utilising Elite’s highly competent technical team the solution integrated seamlessly with existing systems like OCIMF, ensuring up to date compliance with industry standards. 

The implementation was straightforward, requiring no changes to the company’s IT architecture given the SaaS nature of EnergySys. The project itself took a small 2-man team around 9 months, which included design, configuration and testing. The transparency offered by EnergySys meant that the business was able to see the configuration and logic, removing the need for specialist skills. 

Outcomes 

Elite’s delivery of the Santos marine vetting solution on the EnergySys platform has proven highly effective. The platform has ensured data security while optimising port operations. Vessel and port operators now benefit from improved compliance, risk reduction, and enhanced operational efficiency, keeping them and the environment safe.
