Managing the commercial operations of the BTC pipeline running from Baku in Azerbaijan through to Ceyhan in Turkey is a complex business, and the EnergySys Cloud Platform was judged to be the only viable option for the company.

EnergySys provides the foundation for the commercial operations system (COSMOS), developed for a major crude oil pipeline that transports over 1m bbl oil per day from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean coast.

BTC governs the management of ownership of hydrocarbons from the field, through the massive 1,768 kilometres long (around 1,100 miles) oil pipeline, and into tanks and ships.

It incorporates capacity and throughput management (nominations) functionality, hydrocarbon accounting, tariffing, marine scheduling and lifting.

It interfaces to the IP21 data historian and, through their firewalls, to an internet-facing web-service. It retrieves pricing data from Platts for the calculation of daily blend prices.

EnergySys is purely SaaS with no option for on-premise or hybrid models.
